2025 Season Kickoff & Week 1 Recap

Figured I'd get back in the swing of things and do some weekly writeups whenever I have time.  I used to do them regularly (sometimes every single week), but last season, my work schedule was pretty insane, so I didn't get in the habit of doing them.

I think Ramsey actually brought up the idea a few years back of having a ring as a trophy, so (in addition to the $$) that's what is up for grabs this year for the winner of the Playoffs:

On to the Week 1 Recaps...

If you were curious.. Last year in week 1, our league scored an average of 107.37 points.  This year, 98.62 points.  So a slow week from a scoring perspective, hopefully that ramps up in Week 2.

Welcome to the league, Matt!

Didn't realize he'd take the loss so hard, so I swung by his houseboat to talk him into sticking it out...

Brice (1-0), we've gotta have a talk about your QB though.  It was like 60 degrees for that game, what is this?

Apparently starting Cornholio, Brice is fully embracing the chaos this year, also drafting CMC in the first round, and (at least so far) it's paying off.  Not sure I would be able to live in that state of constant anxiety waiting to hear the next update about McCaffrey's health, but I respect the bold move.

And it's proving to be worth it as of now, as he absolutely steamrolled Dan (0-1), our returning champ's team.  And by "team", it was more like a band of misfits in Week 1.  Not a single rushing or receiving TD...ouch.  But hey, several of your bench guys had a few scores, so looks like they're trying to earn a spot.

Dan will look to rebound vs Jordan in Week 2.

Speaking of, Jordan's team lost in a close one, no thanks to Joe Burrow and the Bengals' pathetic offense.  The rest of his lineup played decent enough, and was pretty balanced.  I mean, like identical stat-lines kinda balanced...

Kent was led to victory on the back of the freak that is Derrick Henry.  Every year there are people who say he's gonna fall off, too old, etc, etc.. but he looked every bit as dominant as ever on Sunday night.  Can you be both elite and old at the same time?

Henry is an anomaly, but he's one you want to have on your roster.  Kent gets a matchup with Ramsey in Week 2.

Ramsey (1-0) WILL have to find a tight end for that matchup though, as George Kittle is set to miss 3-5 weeks after breaking a beer bottle over his head.  Ok I'm not 100% sure if that was the exact nature of his injury, but I also don't think anyone would be totally surprised if that was the case.

Zach (0-1) got a solid game out of Hurts and a 2-score effort from Javonte Williams, but it wasn't quite enough this week.  Egbuka, the rookie wideout, also managed a couple TDs on the day, so he could earn a spot in his lineup going forward.  Zach & Matt will face off for Week 2.

The battle of the heavyweights was between Tom & Kyle, with the top 2 scores of the week.  Both of them actually managed to start solid lineups, which is more than I can say for most of us.  Tom's 3 starting RBs scored over 54 points and awarded him the narrow victory.

For Kyle's team, Josh Allen ALONE probably would have had 54 points if that game had gone into OT.  Allen may end up being a very prudent 2nd round draft pick.

That's all I've got for now.  Best of luck on the waiver wire, and in your Week 2 matchups.

- Eric

Week 8 Recap

Well fellas, we're now over halfway through the regular season. As is often the case in this league, there is a lot of parity this year....
